Smart City Symposium

Through the history people tend to develop the quality of living and to improve availability of the base resources (water, energy, communications …). With the consumption increase of the limited resources and enhanced people’s requirements, the new ICT technologies brought up a new concept for obtaining services and resources under the concept of “smart city”.

The term “smart city” has no exclusive relevance although it was introduced in year 1998 as consequence of “smart” things – smart card, smart phone, … Today, a smart city has broader meaning and uses information and communication technologies to enhance quality, performance and interactivity of urban services, to reduce costs and resource consumption and to improve contact between citizens and government. Smart city applications are developed with the goal of improving the management of urban flows and allowing for real time responses to challenges in government services, transport and traffic, energy, water supply, health care creating a unique eco system.

The main goal of the one day Symposium is to exchange ideas, thoughts and opinions of different players, academic staff, city authorities and business sector in reviewing existing situation, technology tendencies, main challenges and potential applications and solutions in supporting smart city concept in our country.
